Reconstructing Families with FamilySearch's Batch Numbers
I first discovered this neat little trick in a video hosted by FamilySearch's Robert Kehrer. The FamilySearch wiki does have an article on using its batch numbers to reconstruct families, but it’s worth watching Kehrer’s demonstration to see just how powerful this little-known feature can be.
As part of a larger webinar Kehrer did on finding elusive records, he discussed the usage of batch numbers to reconstitute family groups. As he explains, batch numbers indicate a specific type of source and were created when preparing the International Genealogical Index.
